an update

I realised I haven't updated you in a while. Not much is too exciting around here. I made a new blog just for pictures since family most likely doesn't care so much about the underwater stuff & I needed a place to put my pictures for the treasure hunt. I decided it would be fun to keep track of the critters I saw & try to improve my photography at the same time. So the critter page will be here http://divergirlsbooty.blogspot.com/ ...
Not much is too exciting around the Bernard farm. Marty is still pretty sad & it has made him a crab to live with- I feel bad , cause I don't know what to do to make him feel better. We have been trying to spend a little more quality time with the pooches that we have now though. Puts things in a little bit of perspective ...
The snow is gone and now the rain has been dousing us . I'm sure you have seen it on the news . We have been quite lucky not to have any flooding in our house. however our yard has been a bit of a marsh. The dogs DO NOT want to go outside in the pouring rain. They go out to the edge of the deck , then make a u-turn back to the door. Even Shifty hates it - and I was pretty sure he had webbing in between his toes =) Luckily we are getting a few days reprieve. Yesterday after we came home from diving , I took Baby , Shifty & Ticky outside to play and burn off some energy. Shifty was running back and forth on the deck & sliding on the mossy film like it was an ice rink! I wish I would have took the camera out with me. It was hilarious!!
Today Marty Pooka KC & I are all going for a walk . Its not raining right now - better take advantage.. Also , this afternoon Marty & I are going to see the Peking acrobats! http://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=12 It should be fun-I'm excited!
SO I guess a bit of excitting news for me is that the property manager said if I "donated" the flooring - they would install it in my suite!! It will be so nice to have smooth floors again after eight years of carpet.... So I decided that while I have everything pulled out - it will be a good time to make some changes. Like a new cabinet system to store all my chemicals & supplies in. I am going to get a BIG cabinet from Ikea (my favorite place in the world ) so that I can make all the shelves & stuff exactly the way I want it. Also I am going to move my work station again- Im tired of the sun shining in our eyes at 4 pm anytime there is actually any sun.... I will post some before and after pictures when the process starts...
I guess I better get off the computer & enjoy the lack of rain while its here...

New Years eve!!!

We waited around to be able to leave for the evening & meet our friends at Redondo for a midnight dive to ring in the new year... Marty & I were met by ; Chris & Kat , Rob Schwab, Sonya & Rush,Pete & Linda, Jenn & Chris and last to show up was Jared & Jen. We deliberated over if we should be UNDER water at midnight , or on the surface for a toast.........We decided on being under water. Marty got to try out his new flip fins for the first time & I forgot my new light - had to use a backup light that was about as bright as my hall nightlight =( This was the first thing I saw........
Stubby Squid
Little Octo-Marty wouldn't stop spotting them

I think Linda and I both took pictures of this guy..
I had mask AND sinus issues - so I was bitching the whole dive ! I swear I didn't see crap because my my mask was half full of water the whole time. However I did manage to get a picture of the monster prawn in the dome!! This sucker was eating weight! I bet he was 8 inches! What do you think of THAT dad?!?!?!

Also while at the dome I had to take a picture of this- which I believe may be whats left of a mermaids purse- ( a skate egg!)

Also , for the first time I saw a couple of grunt sculpin at the dome...

Below is a cute little octo & Jared trying to creep in & steal my photo op =)

Redondo must be the place to see these damn worms...

I thought this reminded me of a flower - so I had to snap a picture...

And the parting shot of the dive was an octo butt!

After the dive we met in the parking lot to crack the champagne that we put in a mesh bag to chill for after the dive. I think Chris Eddy wins the title for most bubbly consumed by one person in the parking lot! SOOoooo glad that everyone hadn't taken off yet to head over to Chris & Kats pad - Marty left the keys in the ignition and the truck door got locked.... after 20 min on the phone with AAA Rob managed to worm his way inside the truck & let us in... YEAAAAA Rob!! So we went over to their house & had Peppermint Pattys & Hot apple pies and played Guitar Hero . ...

Chris Eddy & Kat in the background..

Rush is on drums with Rob in the background....

Jared & Jen....

Kat , with Marty in the background....

JJ and the little woman

Rush & Rob again...

And last but not least Marty. We didn't get home till 3:54 AM!! But we were safe , cause Marty was kind enough to not drink so I could have Peppermint Patties & sleep all the way home (from Federal Way).
It was a nice ending to a fun year ...

Saturdays dive at Titlow..

This was my first view underwater today....
Today's dive was an impromptu decision at lunch after yesterdays dive.. We had a new diver with us today-Jenn Collins...(Of which Marty & I did a good job of ditching near the pilings...)

This Alabaster had some kind of parasite on its back- Maybe I should write Andy Lamb.......... =)
And the second picture is a well hidden decorator crab. ( they stick what ever kind of vegetation that is local to their site all over them for Camouflage) I thought he was kinda cute..

This sculpin wanted to be my friend...

One of my favorite thing about diving at Titlow is the little tiny Nudibranchs all over the place.. I always find it challanging to get good clear pictures of these little guys- but I got kinda lucky today..

Shaggy mouse nudibranch.........

It will only be a matter of time before they pull these pilings out... =(

And of course- the holy grail of all small marine life...... The spiny lumpsucker!!!!!! Isnt he a cutie!!

NYAA NYAAA NA NYYAA NYAAA!!!!!!!!!!
